Community Life at Cumberland First
Our Outreach Team has developed a social media policy. Many congregations and church organizations have such policies regarding use of social media in this information age.The goal of this policy is to respect privacy preferences and safeguard the children of the church. You can fill out a form indicating your preference regarding the use of images of you and those in your household in our church's social media.

Sunday morning fellowship is an opportunity to enjoy coffee, snacks and conversation chat with others before and after worship.
ABY (American Baptist Youth OR Alliance of Baptists Youth)is a group for people in middle school and high school.
This group occasionally meets for fun activities such as overnight lock-ins, Indianapolis Indians games, swimming, canoeing, assisting with activities for younger children, raking leaves for people in our church, raising funds for and walking the CROP Walk, and a lot of other things as well.
We have fun together, explore our faith together, and sometimes just chill together. Sometimes ABY is a program, sometimes just laid back conversation, other times we are up and doing things. ABY... is us together.
Our labyrinth is available to the community 24 hours a day. A labyrinth is an ancient circular path used for meditative walking. Our Chartres-style, 11-circuit turf labyrinth was installed in 2011. In addition, we sponsor guided walks themed to religious and spiritual occasions, from Ash Wednesday and Holy Week to Winter and Summer Solstices, to Blue Moon festivals. Check the calendar and watch for announcements of special events held in the labyrinth area.
Walk the path and for personal and spiritual renewal.
Every Tuesday at 12:30 pm join a group of fun and energetic seniors - The Lunch Bunch - for a pitch-in and conversation in the church Fellowship Hall. Drinks and table service are provided. The fellowship lingers and sometimes even transitions to a lively bridge game!
Behind the outdoor labyrinth is a native prairie in progress, featuring Indiana native perennials from purple cone flowers to beebalm to blue false indigo.
Come, see it grow— or, if you like to garden, pick up a spade and lend a hand!
The Cumberland Arts Festival is one of the many ways we reach out and connect to the local community.
Since 2009, Cumberland Arts, Inc. has produced a celebrated outdoor festival that joins arts with the Town of Cumberland and The Cumberland Farmers Market in creating an event that is known as Cumberland Arts. More than 100 artists, craft vendors and farmers market vendors, entertainment, a silent auction, and a variety of great food - ranging from festival fare to food trucks - make this a GREAT summer day! More information can be found here.
Each year, we share a traditional Christmas Eve service by candlelight and a congregational favorite, filled with scriptural lessons telling the Christmas story, readings to shed new light upon it, and carols featuring Cumberland’s commitment to time-honored and contemporary musical expression.
During the Lenten and Easter seasons, we have multiple events to gather as a community. We have times of reflection, such as Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services. The Easter Egg Hunt is held at noon each year on Saturday morning before Easter. The outdoor event draws children from the congregation, preschool and community. Easter eggs are hidden around the church grounds and children collect them by age. Sweet treats and beverages are served. Come with the family! Easter mornings at Cumberland begin with an Easter breakfast at 9am. This is a long-standing tradition, featuring some of the most delicious egg casseroles ever baked! Come as our guest or bring your own favorite recipe to share!
